A Natural Tinted Moisturiser: Dusty Girls ‘Earth Cream’
When looking for a foundation, I’m all about products that are breathable, lightweight and non-irritating on the skin. This is especially important if you’re someone who tends towards more oily/ acne-prone skin (i.e. me!). In my experience, heavy foundations often leave me the next day with congested, unhappy pores. Many also contain questionable ingredients – a bit of a worry seeing as foundation is a daily routine for many! So I’m happy to report that I’ve discovered an all-natural product that really works for me: the Dusty Girls Earth Cream.
A few months ago, the team at Dusty Girls was sweet enough to send us each a sample of their Tinted ‘Earth Cream’ to try for ourselves. It’s worth mentioning that the Dusty Girls makeup is farmed by MooGoo – a brand that you may be familiar with if you’re from Aus! In short: they’re all about creating products with natural ingredients for those with the most sensitive of skin. So you can be confident that their products are free from irritants and other nasties!
Dusty Girls Earth Cream: Why I Love It
What I love about the Dusty Girls Earth Cream is that the formula is lightweight on the skin and not at all cake-y. Even on my ‘no makeup days’ I’ve found this cream to be so light and gentle on the skin that I don’t mind applying it – with the peace of mind that it won’t clog my pores or initiate a breakout. The consistency is like a cream, though not too thick, and is easily applied and spread with the fingers… a big time-saver and a bonus in my books! ?
In terms of coverage, the Dusty Girls Earth Cream compares with other tinted moisturisers. I find it perfect for evening out skin tone and giving slight coverage to any blemishes. If I’ve got a nasty spot going on I’ll add in a concealer – but normally I find this to be enough. Having used it consistently for a few months now, I’m happy to report that it hasn’t in any way clogged my pores. In fact, I’ve been breakout-free! ?

However, what I really like about this product is the natural matte finish. Being someone that tends towards oily skin, I’ve often steered away from products that give a ‘dewy’ look. With this cream, I can skip powder afterwards.
If you’re interested, this cream comes in two shades – light and medium. I use the medium, and while it looks quite dark straight from the pump, it blends well and is perfect for my skin tone.
What’s In It
We love how forthcoming the brand is with their ingredients, even going so far as to translate their list into everyday English (uhh, polyglycer-what?) for those of us that aren’t so great with the technical lingo! Of course, they don’t participate in animal testing.
Take a lookie for yourself!:
Aqua, Butyrospermum Parkii (Sea Butter, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Titanium Dioxide (Food grade), Coco Capyrlate (Coconut Derived Silky Feeling Emollient), Cocoglycerides, Cetearyl Alcohol (Food Grade Emulsifier), Taraktogenos Kurzii (Chaulmoogra Tree Seed Oil), Nigella Sativa (Fennel Flower) Seed Oil, Leptospermum Scoparium (Manuka Tree) Leaf Oil, Wheat Amino Acids, Palm Glycerides, Glycine Capryloyl (Amino Acid in Skin’s Oil NMF), Magnolia Acuminata Bark Extract, D Alpha Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Olive Butter, Glyceryl Caprylate, Xanthan Gum, Polysorbate 60 (Food Grade Emulsifier), Magnesium Aluminum Silicate (Clay Base) p-Anisic Acid (Anise Derived Preservative), Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate (Glucosed Derived Emulsifier), Brown Wxide C33-115, Yellow Oxide C33-8073.
Overall, we’ve been extremely impressed with this brand, and have already purchased a few more products from their skincare and makeup lines! If you’re on the market for a tinted moisturiser, or are struggling to find something that cooperates with acne-prone or sensitive skin, I would highly recommend the Dusty Girls Earth Cream!
