Healthy Holiday Gift Guide | Eco-Friendly + Healthy Ideas!
Can you believe that holiday season is just around the corner?! As we’re about to move into December we thought this would be the perfect time to share our healthy holiday gift guide – a list of items which we have been loving this year (or gifts we would love to receive!).
We’ve thought of gifts for all the different kinds of people in your life: with a healthy twist! This year we’re also trying to be as sustainable as possible, opting for less plastic and more reusable items (that can be enjoyed for years to come!).
So let’s jump straight into our holiday gift guide:
For the Green Goddess: Self Care + Detox Kit
Skip the lush bath bomb this year (if you didn’t know already: Lush products still contain SLS, parabens + nasties), and instead gift some of these green + healthy self-care goodies.
First up is our favourite detox tool: the dry body brush! If you haven’t heard of dry body brushing yet, learn all about the benefits here. In short, dry body brushing before a shower or bath helps to support lymphatic flow and detoxification. It’s also great for exfoliation, giving you super soft skin + has also been said to reduce cellulite. Look for a brush with all-natural cactus bristles over synthetic. It’s also important to make sure the bristles are relatively firm rather than overly soft. There are several brushes available – we love the range by Bodecare (highly recommend their long-handle brush with detachable handle available here), or for a more affordable option check out the brushes by Hydrea.

To take this gift to the next level, pair with some Epsom salts. Epsom salts can be added to baths (or foot baths!) and contain magnesium sulphate to relieve tension and support detoxification. These bath salts by Caim and Able meet all our aesthetic goals and contain added essential oils for a bonus aromatherapy bath sesh. Or pick up a good deal online and purchase bath salts in bulk (they’re just as good!) – if you’d like, repackage into a large mason jar for easy dispensing.
Alternatively, add in some luxurious body oils or healthy haircare products. Body oils are great for nourishing the skin following a dry brushing session – the light body oils by Acure are easily absorbed into the skin and smell amazing. In terms of haircare, it’s no secret that we’ve been loving the full range by The Innate Life. All of their products are natural and non-toxic, using a blend of oils and herbs. Our favourites: their Rose Hair Elixir and Herbal Hair Mask.
For the Foodie Friend: Ceramics
Ceramics make a perfect gift, especially for foodie friends who love cooking (or you know, eating)! Pick from a variety of pieces depending on your price range such as a mug, bowl or plates!
This year I invested a few ceramic pieces for myself, and it was 100% worth it! I use all of these pieces daily and get so much joy from eating off of them! There’s just something special about knowing an item is totally unique and made by hand (not to mention it makes food look great!).
My advice would be to support a local artist who makes ceramics in your area! One of my favourites in Brisbane is Two Warm Hands Ceramics. Or if you can’t find anyone locally, hunt for some one-of-a-kind pieces on Etsy.
For the Zero-Waste City Slicker: Re-Usable Coffee Cup
For all the coffee lovers out there – it’s time to invest in a re-usable coffee cup! Plastic coffee cups spell trouble not only for the environment, but also for our own health (as BPA leaches out of the plastic and into hot drinks). Luckily, there are heaps of trendy options available these days so that you can still enjoy coffee on the go!
One great option is to go for a classic Keep Cup. There are a variety of different styles and sizes available now, but for someone who truly loves coffee, I would recommend purchasing their double-walled Keep Cup. This is the best option for preventing scorched fingers!
Or for something a little more special, consider buying a ceramic re-usable cup – one brand that I’ve been swooning over is Pottery for the Planet. Their cups come in a variety of colours and designs for those that want something truly unique! If purchasing, also be sure to pick up a heat band for easier handling!
For the Apartment Dweller: Plants + Cacti
Encourage your friends to invite some green into their space! Houseplants are a great way to improve indoor air quality and naturally boost our mood. If you’re concerned about keeping your plant alive, opt for a smaller plants or cacti that can withstand harsher conditions (i.e. harder to kill and can tolerate less water).
Pair with a super cute pot – there are heaps of unique options on Etsy and we also love the offerings from Arc and Family if you’re in Australia!
For the Creative Gift Giver: DIY Natural Beauty + Skincare
Prefer to hand-make your gifts? If you live in Brisbane, Biome stores have changed the game with the opening of their Naked Beauty Bar just last year. For those who love DIY, this is a dream come true! Go in-store to find all the ingredients you could ever need to create your own non-toxic skincare at home. Alternatively, hit up their website to order your ingredients and to find some DIY inspo.
If you’re looking to make gifts yourself, check out their huge list of recipes here – we love the sound of their home-made bath bombs and Soothing Bath Soak! Or if your recipient is crafty (or looking to go zero waste with their beauty products), simply gift them some key ingredients + resources to get started. The book Hello Glow by Stephanie Gerber would be wonderful for a beginner, and contains heaps of DIY natural beauty recipes with stunning photography.
For the Biohacker: Oura Ring, Heartmath, Shakti Mat
Know someone who loves tracking, stats + numbers? If so, we’ve heard great things about the Oura Ring. This nifty little ring delivers feedback to help you optimise your sleep patterns and overall health. Features include sleep tracking (including sleep score, quality tracking, sleep stages), reports on heart rate variability and respiratory rate plus so much more. For all the deets and specs, check out their website. A word of warning: these rings are custom made, quite pricey and can take some time to deliver, but for those willing to wait this would be a gift like no other!
Another great option for improving emotional and physical health is the HeartMath Inner Balance Trainer. This device delivers instant heart rate variability feedback and can be used to re-train the nervous system (leading to less-stress and better moods – who doesn’t want that?).
Finally, you could consider purchasing the Shakti Mat. These mats use acupressure to relieve tension, promote relaxation and better sleep. We personally haven’t tried this one yet, but this is a gift we would be more than happy to receive!
